Shatner's Eternal Life With Star Trek

July 11, 2012, by Will Hoover

William Shatner's YouTube Channel, The Shatner Project.com says, "If you are a fan of anything, this is a MUST WATCH documentary of passion and dedication, friends and family, heartache and triumph.  The EPIX Original Documentary William Shatner's Get A Life! premieres on EPIX, EpixHD.com and on EPIX apps including Xbox, Roku players and more on July 28th at 8 PM ET."

Sounds exciting, Bill!  Guess we can't miss that one, eh?

Bohemian Shatner

As if William Shatner actually needed an introduction!  At any rate, his recent, dare I say "cover," of Queen's classic rock opera ballad Bohemian Rhapsody, is brilliant enough, but the music video is nothing short of stunning!  Wait... I've seen that face written in the stars motif before....  On some geektastic, fanboy action figure website called... what was it now?  OH YEAH!  Action Figure Universe!  Imagine that!  Blue atmospheric effects highlighting classic mythic figures illuminated in the night sky and all.  Hmmm....

But I certainly couldn't have been the first person to ever come up with that idea, now could I?  In fact, I think the opening sequence in the original Clash of the Titans film from 1981 is what inspired me to incorporate similarly styled visuals into the design of my own humble little action figure website.  And you could even say that Will Shatner himself has been inspiring me in one way or another since perhaps even before the day I was born - given that my mother watched Star Trek loyally while she was nursing me in the womb!  Sadly, I don't have Mr. Shatner's budget to work with when I put my own visual elements together for my site though....

Well, at any rate, the great Shatner and his team have done an absolutely amazing job with this video.  The only qualm I have is that I'd have liked to have seen more of his whole head and not just inner parts of his face, but... who's complaining?  And (if you'll pardon the pun) let's face it, folks, if anybody in this whole wide wonderful universe of ours is a living, breathing, 1:1 scale action figure, it's THE William Shatner!
